Participants will begin their cultivation journey with a complete growing kit ($30 value) including substrate, grain spawn, and spore syringe. You will start your first mushroom culture during the workshop and watch it flourish at home.

Daniel Goldshtein is an urban farmer, musician, and historian with a deep-rooted love of the transformative power fungi can have on the world. A lifelong learner, he has been cultivating mushrooms since 1999. Daniel has since become a leader among DIY growers, sharing his knowledge and experience with the dedicated community of mycologists along the East Coast.
Stu Sherman developed a deep connection to food science after being diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at age six. After earning a JD/MPH from Boston University, he worked in health policy, leading a New York State bioethics Task Force on healthcare innovation and pandemic response. During the pandemic, while working as a public interest attorney, he discovered a passion for urban gardening and mushroom cultivation, combining his love of science with hands-on growing.
